CROSSING DELANCEY is a delightful, romantic comedy set in New York City in the l980's. The play explores the age-old traditional roles of women as expressed by Bubbie, the lovable, feisty, sharp-witted grandma in her eighties (played by Joyce Barbin of Loch Sheldrake), contrasted by the liberated options of the “new woman” explored by her “thirty something” granddaughter Isabelle “Izzy” Grossman (portrayed by Melissa McTague, also of Loch Sheldrake). When Bubbie and the matchmaker Hannah (played by Sara Spoerri of Honesdale, PA), try to arrange a date for Izzy with Sam, the local pickleman, (played by Christopher Sarles of White Sulphur Springs), a generational and cultural clash erupts! Isabelle has ideas of her own, notably her love interest, the author Tyler Moss (portrayed by Karl Spoerri of Honesdale), but the conflict is resolved with a generous dose of humor, affection and wisdom. CROSSING DELANCEY is a production all ages can enjoy together. CROSSING DELANCEY will be presented on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 3, 4, 10, 11 – at 8:00 pm and on Sunday, Sept. 5, 12 – at 2:00 pm, at the fully air-conditioned Nartoff-Wells Auditorium of the Rivoli Theatre in South Fallsburg.
