The Play That Goes Wrong

August 13 and 20 at 2 PM

Welcome to the opening night of the Cornley University Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show—an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). Nevertheless, the accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences! Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, this Olivier Award–winning comedy is a global phenomenon that’s guaranteed to leave you aching with laughter!

“…an unexpected, gut-busting hit…one of those breakneck exercises in idiocy that make you laugh till you cry…It starts off punch-drunk and just keeps getting drunker.” —The New York Times. “…

Oliver

Lionel Bart’s “Oliver!”

July 14, 15, 21, 22 at 8 PM
July 16 and 23 at 2 PM

The award-winning musical adaptation of the classic Dickens novel springs to life with some of the most memorable characters and songs ever to grace the stage.

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow, takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family.

Oliver! is a musical theatre masterpiece, perfectly showcasing the talents of a large ensemble cast as they bring these classic characters and musical scores to life.

LIONEL BART’S OLIVER! is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com

May Double Feature

Simply Cinderella and Fool

Simply Cinderella by the Benjamin Cosor Players and Fool written and directed by our own Ellie J.

May 12, 13, 19, 20 at 8 PM
May 14 and 21 at 2 PM

Enjoy an evening of theatre for the whole family. The Benjamin Cosor Players open the evening with “Simply Cinderella”. This bare-bones, cut-to-the-chase re-telling of the classic fairy tale is fast-paced and flat out funny. Overworked and under-appreciated Cinderella swings her broom at the Fairy Godmother, thinking she’s a giant moth. Meanwhile, Queen Hobnail wants Prince Shubert to choose a suitable princess, but he would rather play video games than dance with a girl. The beleaguered Fairy Godmother manages to bring the two together, at least until midnight, while Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters wait for the other shoe to drop. This upbeat, slap-happy fractured fairy tale will delight performers and audiences alike.

The evening concludes with an original play written and performed by our very own Ellie J. The World has gone bonkers and there is only one clown left on earth! Concealed in a colorful bunker, the Fool passes the days with determined fun-making. But when a crack in the wall is discovered, will the Fool venture outside, or stay hidden away? Is the Fool really the last clown, or are there other friends to be found? Join the journey of fearless jubilation!
